He was predeceased by: his wife Carol Althea Williams Sheppard; his parents, Oscar Thomas Sheppard, Sr. and Nellie Mae Eggleston Sheppard; and his siblings, Bobby Sheppard, Charles Sheppard, Oscar Thomas "O. T." Sheppard, Jr., Shirley Sheppard Lovell, Lucille Rhodenizer and Mary Frances Sheppard.
He is survived by: his children, Roy Lee Sheppard, Jr. (Cindy) of Covington, Todd Sheppard of Covington, Robbie Sheppard of Florida and Jennifer Sheppard (Roger Potter) of Millboro; and his sister Sylvia Sheppard Smith Toombs of Bath County. He is also survived by nine grandchildren; ten great grandchildren.
