He was predeceased by: his parents, Hazel M. Fitzgerald and Clinie J. Fitzgerald; his daughter-in-law Leslie B. Fitzgerald; and his favorite canine sidekicks, Amos and Andy.
He is survived by: his wife Becky Fitzgerald of Crimora; his children, Jesse Fitzgerald Jr. of Waynesboro and Melinda Fitzgerald Helmick of Crimora; his granddaughter Allison Fitzgerald Kennedy (Todd) of Waynesboro; his sister Caroline Whitesell (Charles); and his close friends, Sam and Anna Phillips.
A graveside service was held on Wednesday, September 16th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the Augusta Memorial Park (1775 Old Goose Crk Rd, Waynesboro, VA 22980).
