He was predeceased by: his parents, John Haines and Viola Haines; his stepchildren, Joseph A. Pacheco and Hope Laverne; and his siblings, Virginia Hitt, Charles Turner Haynes, John Haines, Jr., William E. Haines, Mildred Smith, Thomas Russell Haines, Floyd "Buddy" Haines, Rosemary Haines, Richard H. Haines and Mary Anna Woodward.
He is survived by: his wife Rebecca Haines; his sons, David T. Haines (Stephanie) and Elmer Lee Haines, Jr. (Shannon); and his stepchildren, Mabel Cecil (Richard), Becky Herrera (Pilo), Mercy Perry (Dominic), Zenon Pacheco (Chris), Eugene Pacheco (Cindy) and Margo Pacheco. He is also survived by thirty-eight grandchildren and a host of great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
