He is survived by: his children, Richard Schnell (Jill) of Chantilly, VA, Lee Ann Lape of Spring, TX and Lynda Blume (Rodney) of Culpeper, VA; his stepchildren, Rick Slagle (Judy) of Woodstock, GA, Jill Waters (Dale) of Hermiston, OR and Alyson Stoddard of Sugar Grove, PA.; his grandchildren, Melissa Allen (Jeannie), Cain Blume (Logyn), Allison Minckler (Devin), Zachary Lape (Megan), Matthew Schnell (Erin), Travis Schnell (Gretchen), Angela Warfield (Ryan), Trib Slagle (Julie), Amie Hall (Dan), Dru Freeborough (Shelly), Dane Freeborough (Shayla), Andrea Cerrillo (Osten) and Nick Waters (Aileen); Lucille Schnell, Beverly Schnell and Marianne Schnell. He is also survived by 19 great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews.
