He was predeceased by: his wife Patricia Garneau Sampsell; and his parents, Walter C. "Buddy" Sampsell, Sr. and Verly Byrnes Sampsell. He is survived by: his children, Walter, III (Paula), Glen, Wade (Michelle), Elaine Payne (Kenny) and Michelle Brown (Bubba); his grandchildren, Walter Sampsell, IV (Karen), Joseph Sampsell (Jen), Brooke Benitez (Shane), Bennett Payne (Blake), Miranda Payne, Rachel Brown and Alyssa Sampsell; his great grandchildren, Charlene, Ella, Abbey, Walter, Lucy Sampsell and Connor Benitez; and his sister Myrtis "Judy" Rusis of Florida. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers consider donating blood to the American Red Cross. Hap was proud of the pin he received after donating 6 gallons of blood.
