We bid farewell to Walter Carlisle Sampsell Jr. in Culpeper, Virginia, born in Arlington, Virginia, whose journey of life gracefully concluded on June 17, 2025 at the age of 89. Walter touched countless lives with warmth and kindness, leaving behind cherished memories that will forever echo in hearts. He was predeceased by: his wife Patricia Garneau Sampsell; and his parents, Walter C. "Buddy" Sampsell, Sr. and Verly Byrnes Sampsell. He is survived by: his children, Walter, III (Paula), Glen, Wade (Michelle), Elaine Payne (Kenny) and Michelle Brown (Bubba); his grandchildren, Walter Sampsell, IV (Karen), Joseph Sampsell (Jen), Brooke Benitez (Shane), Bennett Payne (Blake), Miranda Payne, Rachel Brown and Alyssa Sampsell; his great grandchildren, Charlene, Ella, Abbey, Walter, Lucy Sampsell and Connor Benitez; and his sister Myrtis "Judy" Rusis of Florida. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 22nd 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Moser Funeral Home, Inc. (233 Broadview Ave, Warrenton, VA 20186). A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Monday, June 23rd 2025 at 11:00 AM at the St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church (271 Winchester St, Warrenton, VA 20186). A burial will be held on Monday, June 23rd 2025 at the Bright View Cemetery (8265 Lunsford Rd, Warrenton, VA 20187).
In lieu of flowers consider donating blood to the American Red Cross. Hap was proud of the pin he received after donating 6 gallons of blood.
