He was predeceased by: his parents, Kyle Robert and Betty Jo Hash Sumner; his sister Notra Kylene Sumner; and his daughter Erika Susan Sumner. He is survived by: his wife Jane Slater Sumner; his children, Jonathan Kyle Sumner (Barbara) of Huntsville, AL and Dr. Lydia Jane Sumner (Justin Hardison) of Gainesville, VA; his brother Anthony Walbert Sumner (Amy) of Richmond, VA; and his grandchildren, Joshua Kyle, Michael Guidry and Raegan Everleigh Sumner.
