He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Carl and Bessie Mae (Hahn); his daughter Karen Joy; and his siblings, Robert Carl Jr. (Leona Schaefer) and Gloria Mae Schaefer Good.
He is survived by: his wife Dorcas Alderfer Schaefer; his daughters, Patricia Nice (Larry) of Powhatan and Carol Landis (Glen) of Cumberland; his grandchildren, Benjamin Nice (Melissa), Matthew Nice (Kendall), Nathan Landis (Allison), Timothy Nice (Anna), Luke Landis (Lisa), Marie Jones (Justin), Paul Nice (Audrey-Kate), Dawn Miller (Duane), James Nice (Megan), Anna Landis and Jesse Landis; his brother William Emanuel Schaefer (Bertha); and his brother-in-law Ed Good. He is also survived by 34 great-grandchildren.
Viewing will be held on Thursday, June 26th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Powhatan Mennonite Church (3540 Old Buckingham Rd, Powhatan, VA 23139). A funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 26th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
