It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Anna May Salyer Gilbert (Danville, Virginia), born in Davenport, Iowa, who passed away on April 1, 2023, at the age of 74, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her father Charles Slayer; her children, Stephen Schumm and Kimberly Hanna; and her sisters, Donna Dodd and Ruby Palmer.

She is survived by: her mother Grace Mulainex Salyer; her husband Alvis S. Gilbert Jr.; her daughter Dee Strob (Robert) of Evans, GA; her stepsons, Charles Gilbert of Keeling, VA and Michael Gilbert (Jenny) of St. Louis, MO; her siblings, Charles Salyer, James Salyer of Quincy, IL, Rose Ann Ruby of Frankford, MO, Linda Baer (Dennis) of Belville, IL and Roma Slayer of Quincy, IL.; and her sister-in-law Kay Wagstaff of Roxboro, NC.. She is also survived by nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to charity of choice.
