He was predeceased by: his parents, James Edward Barber and Margaret O. McDaniel Barber; and his grandparents, Joel, Maddie McDaniel, James and Elizabeth Barber.

He is survived by: his wife Karen Barber; his daughters, Tracy L. York (Jason) of Reidsville, NC and Angela D. Martin (Wayne) of Madison, NC; and his grandchildren, Jamie York, Allison York, Hallie Martin and Hannah Martin.

He enjoyed spending his time riding his Harley-Davidson Motorcycle in charity runs to benefit others in need.
