He was predeceased by: his parents, Lillie Sue Wilson Gibson and Frank Smith Gibson; his wife Mary Ann Mize Gibson; and his siblings, Thomas Ellison Gibson Sr., Harvey Nelson Gibson, Lois Gibson Wells and Chaney Gibson Payne.
He is survived by: his children, Dennis Haywood Gibson Jr. (Cathy), Kenneth Hoskins (Susan) and Patricia H. Guill (Paul); his granddaughters, Gena Tiedeman (T. J.), Mary Ellen Spencer (Mike), Meghan Swanson and Jessica Napier (Justin); and his great grandchildren, Lucy, Preston, Evan, Ellen and Emmaline.
