He was predeceased by: his parents, Vivian Stutz Stirewalt and Aaron "Bill" Spencer; his brother Aaron Bill Spencer Jr.; and his brother-in-law Butch Thompson. He is survived by: his wife Rebecca Thompson Spencer; his children, D. J. Spencer (Carmen) of Danville, VA and Janelle Spencer Gammon of Danville, VA; his grandchildren, Kayla Spencer Fisher (Craig), Karli Tate Manley (Nathan), Sophia Spencer and Jacob Almashy; and his great grandchildren, Sadie Mae Manley and Atlas Almashy.
