It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Elizabeth Hughes Merricks (Danville, Virginia), who passed away on June 22, 2022, at the age of 97, leaving to mourn family and friends. You can send your sympathy in the guestbook provided and share it with the family.

She was predeceased by: her parents, Mae Williams Hughes and Wiley Fred Hughes Sr.; her significant other Calvin Coolidge Merricks; and her brothers, Wiley Fred Hughes Jr. and James Clifton Hughes.

She is survived by: her son Calvin "Bucky" Luther Merricks (Porchia) of Danville, VA; her grandchildren, Sarah Jennifer Leffel (Shane) and Calvin David Merricks (Buffy); her great grandchildren, Mason, Addison, Cassidy, Avery and Angie Biggs (Brad); Riley, Garrett and Will. She is also survived by nieces and nephews; and numerous step grand and great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to Danville Pittsylvania County Cancer Association or to St. Jude's Children's hospital.
