She was predeceased by: her parents, Charles Harold Gardner, Sr. and Evelyn Stone Keesee Gardner. She is survived by: her husband Horace Porter Taylor, Jr.; her brothers, Charles Harold Gardner, Jr. (Linda) of Richmond and William Keesee Gardner (Sarah) of Richmond, Virginia; and her siblings' children, Michael, Scott Gardner, Emily, Matthew and Katherine Gardner.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the SPCA of Pittsylvania County, P.O. Box 936, Chatham, VA 24531, reflecting Joan's lifelong dedication to the care and protection of animals.
