He was predeceased by: his parents, Howard Lee Garrett Sr. and Harriett Hayes Garrett Lea; his siblings, Mable G. Anderson, Harriett Poteat, Clara Fuller, Delores Garland and Bobby Garrett; and his grandchild TaFoya Jones.
He is survived by: his wife Virginia Wilson Garrett; his son Anthony Garrett (Carolyn) of Danville, VA; and his grandchildren, Antwanette Penn (Stevon) of Martinsville, VA and Anthony Reynolds (Sheretta) of Atlanta, GA. He is also survived by twelve great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
