He was predeceased by: his parents, Howard Simpson and Janie Simpson; his wife Susan Jackson Simpson; and his siblings, Kathryn Clayton and Robert Simpson.
He is survived by: his daughter Wendy Simpson Berkhead; his son-in-law David; his grandchildren, Grace, Jackson and Stella of Wake Forest, NC; his sister-in-law Janet Scott of Chatham, VA; and his son Tommy Simpson. He is also survived by several nephews, niece and cousins.
