He is survived by: his son James M. Scales, Jr. (Stephanie) of Gloucester, VA; and his siblings, William Scales of Danville, VA, George Scales of Danville, VA, Hanton Scales of Danville, VA, Peggy Lockett of Hampton, VA, Gwendolyn Scales of Ringgold, VA and Donna Marie Scales of Richmond, VA. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
