He was predeceased by: his parents, James Clyde "Jiggs" Harris and Mary Alice Soyars Harris; his wives, Judith Bryant Harris and Evelyn DeHart Harris; his brother Jimmy Harris; and his close friend Sly.

He is survived by: his daughters, Lisa Harris Ober of Charlotte, NC and Beth Harris Keefer (Derek) of Raleigh, NC; his stepchildren, Brenda, Vince Millard of Danville, Jettie and Deborah Wright of Salem, VA.; his grandchildren, Zachary, Matthew, Baylee, Christopher and Chad; his great grandchildren, Brelynn, David, Madison, Alicia and Ella; his brothers, Daryl Harris (Susan) of South Boston, Ricky Harris (Joanne) and Mark Harris (Diane) of Danville; and his sister-in-law Cynthia Harris of Pilot Mountain, NC..
