He was predeceased by: his parents, Clyde Franklin and Minnie Franklin of Danville, VA.; and his siblings, Helen Ratliff, Margie Smith, Gearlene Scearce and Jerry Talbott.
He is survived by: his wife Svetlana "Lana" Franklin; his children, Kimberly, Sydney Franklin of Blairs, VA, Joel Franklin, Jr. of Danville, VA, Micheal Adkins (Rachel) of Liberty Township, Ohio and Robert Talbott (Tasha) of Sandpoint, Idaho; and his grandchildren, Travis, Ashleigh Shepherd, Jessi Quesenberry (Jacob), Madeleine Martinez, Ashton Ladd, Megan Amlung, Michael Adkins Jr. and Joel Franklin III. He is also survived by many great grandchildren, nieces, & nephews.
