It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Mary Lovelace Scearce (Danville, Virginia), who passed away on November 27, 2023, at the age of 95, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, William Grady Lovelace and Rose Hayes Lovelace; her husband Lester O. "Jack" Scearce, Jr.; and her siblings, Charles Lovelace, Betty Wahler, Dot Nosdrant and Nancy Hill.

She is survived by: her son Col. Michael Dayne Scearce; her daughter-in-law Donna Scearce; her grandchildren, Marissa Podlin (Chris), Megan Taylor (Derek) and Michael Dayne Scearce II (Mary); her great grandchildren, Aiden Taylor, Henry Podlin, Hayes Podlin, Aubrey Taylor, Presley Podlin and Samantha Scearce; her friends, Angela Pruitt and Brenda Smith; and her caregiver Crystal Gayle. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks donations be made in her name to Moffett Memorial Baptist Church at 1026 N Main St, Danville, VA 24540.
