She was predeceased by: her parents, Hugh Lambeth Bray and Nannie Vaughan Bray; her husband Herbert Hoover Clayton; her cousin Lucille Louoff; and her caregiver Robin Shelton.
She is survived by: her stepchildren, Dwight Clayton (Joyce) and Linda Keeper; her caregivers, Betty Adkins, Barbara Wray, Edna Griffith, Nevie, Deborah and Donzilla; her cousins, Deborah Saunders and Danny Wommack; and her close friend Jimmy Carter. She is also survived by numerous step-grandchildren and step-great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers the family suggest that memorial donations can be made to Nayar Hospice in memory of Melba.
