He was predeceased by : his parents, Henry Alfred Brown and Bernice Hogan Brown Hardy; his stepfather Ed Hardy; and his sisters, Shirley Mattox and Rachel Mize.

He is survived by : his wife Nancy Jane Evans Brown; his children, Bo Brown (Malia), Jonah Brown, Jason Brown (Shelly), Josh Brown (Stephanie) and Sherry Moser (Tracey); and his sisters, Phyllis Simpson (Kim) and Sheila Cody-Lester (Carson). He is also survived by sixteen grandchildren; five great-grandchildren.

Visitation was held on Thursday, April 25th 2024 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Wrenn-Yeatts Westover Chapel (5858 Riverside Dr, Danville, VA 24541). A funeral service was held on Friday, April 26th 2024 at 1:00 PM at the same location.
