We are sad to announce that on September 26, 2025, at the age of 79, Michael Wayne East of Danville, Virginia passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
As Michael departs from this earthly realm, his essence lingers — a whisper on the wind, a ripple on the water — a testament to the enduring power of love to transcend the boundaries of life and death. Though Michael may no longer walk beside us, his spirit lives on in the memories and the legacy Michael leaves behind.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Wallace Thornton East and Edith Dodson East. He is survived by: his brother Roger Thornton East; his sister-in-law Ellen "Len" Davis East of Richmond, VA.; and his children, David Thornton East of Reston and Ellen Hutter East of Norfolk.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, October 2nd 2025 at 12:00 PM at the Highland Burial Park (3049 N Main St, Danville, VA 24540).
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations in his honor be made to Moffett Memorial Baptist Church, 1026 North Main St Danville, VA 24540.
