He was predeceased by: his parents, John Anderson Payne and Lendy Crews Payne. He is survived by: his wife Katherine Fuller Payne; his son Joshua Michael Payne; his sister Phyllis Payne Bowles; and his sibling's children, Grace Moses, Lindsay Hart and Jackson Fuller.
Visitation will be held on Monday, December 15th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the North Main Baptist Church (2818 N Main St, Danville, VA 24540). A funeral service will be held on Monday, December 15th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Mount Herman Fire and Rescue in honor of Michael's lifelong commitment to service and community.
