It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Nancy Poteat Compton of Danville, Virginia, who passed away on September 14, 2023, at the age of 89, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Fred Loftin and Nannie Louise Wood Poteat; her husband Leon Desmond Compton; and her siblings, Marie P. Oakley, Geneva P. Roberts and Earl L. Poteat.
She is survived by: her sons, Jeffrey Desmond "J. D." Compton, Sr. and Richard Leon Compton (Amy); her grandchildren, Cameron Compton (Sierra), Stephanie Butler, Ashley Butler, Zachary Alexander Compton (Olivia Adkins), Elizabeth Marie Compton, Alexandria Desmond Compton and Jeffrey Desmond Compton, Jr.; and her great grandchildren, Cole Thomas Compton and Luke Richard Compton. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
