Nancy Sparks Newman Obituary

With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Nancy Sparks Newman of Danville, Virginia, who passed away on April 24, 2025 at the age of 94. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She was predeceased by: her parents, Samuel Spencer Sparks and Bessie Crawford Sparks; her husband Davis E. Newman; and her siblings, Russell S. Sparks, Roderick T. Sparks, Barbara S. Shumate and Phyllis S. Synan.

She is survived by: her daughters, Trenace Newman Mantiply (David) and Laurie Newman Bailey (Dennis); her grandchildren, Samuel D. Mantiply (Leslie), Mollie Ann Mantiply, Joseph N. Mantiply (Ella), Austin D. Bailey and James F. Bailey (Perry); her great grandchildren, Hope Bailey, Ella Bailey, Freeman Bailey, Royall Bailey, Jones Bailey, Katherine Mantiply, Emma Mantiply and Lucy Mantiply; and her sister Sue Crawford Simpkins. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Veterans Memorial Fund at the Community Foundation of the Dan River Region, 541 Loyal St., Danville, VA, 24541.
