He was predeceased by: his parents, Thomas L. Lakey and Mamie Ellen Large Lakey; his wife Lily Meeks Lakey; his son Phillip Thomas Lakey, Jr.; and his sisters, Dorothy Lakey Hedrick, Mary Frances Lakey Dunbar, Thelma Gaynelle Lakey Williams, Virginia Mae Lakey Hudgins and Pearline Lakey Matthews.
He is survived by: his children, Angela Lakey Weber (Michael) and John Walter Lakey (Jennifer); his grandchildren, Andrew Thomas Rust, Ashley Nichole Rust, Natalie Dianne Lakey and Trey Walter Lakey; his great grandchild Cadence Marie Fuqua; his sister Phyliss Lakey Holley; and his pet Abbie. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
