He was predeceased by: his parents, Junious Thomas and Bertie Lee Garland Thomas; his wife Velma Lee Jackson Thomas; his siblings, Mignon Thomas, Eleanor Crabbe, Elizabeth Motley, William "Bill" Thomas and Woody Thomas; and his great grandchild Alonzo Thomas Whitley.

He is survived by: his daughters, Patricia Williams (Morris) and Nadine Whitley (Ralph); and his grandchildren, Stephanie Williams, Morris E. Williams Jr. (Britteny), Michael Whitley (Tanisha) and Nicholas Whitley (Akela). He is also survived by 8 great- grandchild; 1 great great- grandchild; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

A graveside service was held on Saturday, September 12th 2026 at 12:00 PM at the Floral Hills Memory Gardens (1665 South Boston Rd, Danville, VA 24540).
