He was predeceased by: his father James Malloy McFarling; and his brother James M. McFarling, Jr. (Richard). He is survived by: his mother Beatrice Sams McFarling; his wife Lillie Harold McFarling; his children, Richard E. "Ricky" McFarling, Jr. (Chris) of Providence, NC and Amy McFarling Wilkerson of Danville; his granddaughters, Lauren and Hailey McFarling; and his sister Sandra McFarling. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
