Roger Frederick Erb Obituary

Roger Frederick Erb, age 79 of Danville, Virginia passed away Wednesday, July 10, 2024 peacefully in his sleep. Mr. Erb was born September 22, 1944 in Long Branch, New Jersey to the late Jeane Ploger Erb and the late Thomas F. Erb. He was married to Shirley White Erb who predeceased him on May 4, 2024.

Mr. Erb enlisted in the United States Marine Corp in 1963 and served two tours in Vietnam. Prior to his retirement, he was a press operator at US Gypsum. He was a loving husband, father, papa, and great grandpa. He loved being a Marine, woodworking, tinkering with cars, thrift store shopping, and he loved Jersey Mikes subs.

He is survived by his children, Kristen Gammon (Scott), Laurie Cunningham (Jim), Sheryl Blalock (Carl), Bob Cunningham, Chuck Cunningham (Rhona), Don Cunningham (Toni), Marvin Erb, Dawn Erb Puckett (Mike), Roger Erb, II, and Kristie Erb; sister, Susie Erb Rogers; brothers, Jeff Erb and Thomas Erb.

Roger adored his grandchildren, which include Megan, Mary, Chuck, Ben, Elizabeth, Laura, Lauren, Jack, Tyler, Ray, Lindsey, Corey, Gabby, Brady, Bailey, Chance, Dylan, as well as many great-grandchildren.

In addition to his beloved wife and parents, Mr. Erb was also predeceased by his brother, Alan Erb; brother-in-law, Bob Rogers; and his granddaughter, Sarah, Sarah Rowland.

A graveside service will be held Monday, July 15, 2024, 11:00 a.m. at Danville Memorial Gardens, Danville, Virginia officiated by his son-in-law, Scott Gammon. The family will receive friends and family at the home of his daughter, Kristen Gammon, 260 Bennett St., Danville, Virginia.
