He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Schiedel and Helen DeRush Schiedel; his wife Elizabeth "Betty" Dale Dodson Schiedel; his siblings, Joseph Schiedel, William Schiedel and Dorothy Lawton; and his son-in-law Robert "Gene" Gentry.

He is survived by: his daughters, Rebecca "Becky" Payne, Helen Trammell (Steve) and Terri Gentry. He is also survived by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Memorial contributions may be made to Sacred Heart Church, 538 Central Boulevard, Danville, Virginia 24541.
