He was predeceased by: his parents, William Thomas Gatewood and Ina Dalton Gatewood; his son Mark Gatewood; and his granddaughter Rachel Gatewood. He is survived by: his wife Joyce Oakes Gatewood; his sons, Gary Gatewood (Carolyn) and Randy Gatewood (Kim); his daughter-in-law Melissa Gatewood; his grandchildren, Thomas Gatewood (Casey), Ryan Gatewood (Rachel), Kory Gatewood (Kelly), Kevin Gatewood (Caroline), Nicholas Gatewood (Rebecca), Stephanie Brande and Alexandra Burkhalter (Alan); and his great grandchildren, Adam, Chase, Weston, Crew, Macy, Madi, Eleanor, Grant, Addison, Brooklyn, Mason, Mark Alan, Emersyn and Baby Boy Gatewood.
Visitation will be held on Monday, September 29th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Woodlawn Baptist Church (2500 Westover Dr, Danville, VA 24541). A celebration of life will be held on Monday, September 29th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to Woodlawn Baptist Church or a charity of your choice.
