She was predeceased by: her parents, Willie Hay Soyars and Nellie Katherine Chilton Soyars; her husband George LaVern Howe; her son Thomas L Howe; and her siblings, Virginia Butler, Marion Anderson and Bill Soyars.

She is survived by: her daughter-in-law Barbara Howe; her grandchildren, Brevet, Kira and Devon; her daughter Donna Howe Fagan (Robert); her grandsons, Richard Marsh III and David Marsh; her daughter Leslie Howe Marley (Ricky); her grandchildren, Michael and Sarah; her great grandchild Caroline Marsh; and her sister Betty Jo Zimmerman.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorials be made to the Danville Life Saving and First Aid Crew, Inc., 202 Christopher Lane, Danville, VA 24541; or to Fairview United Methodist Church, 1013 Westover Drive, Danville, VA 24541.
