He was predeceased by: his parents, Claude Benjamin Yates, Sr. and Annie McDowell Yates; his half-brothers, C. B. Yates, Jr. and Henry Woodrow Yates; his sisters, Betty Yates Whitt and Ruby Kathryn Yates; and his brother-in-law Billy Adams.
He is survived by: his wife Betty Adams Yates; and his sisters, Dot Bennett of Danville, VA and Mary Lee Reid of Round Rock, TX. He is also survived by five nieces and nephews; and several great nieces and great nephews.
