James Robert Oakley Jr. Obituary
We are sad to announce that, on February 4, 2026, at the age of 89, James Robert Oakley Jr. (Dillwyn, Virginia) passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his wife Ruth Joyner Oakley; his parents, James R. Oakley Sr. and Mary Wilson Oakley; and his brothers, Billy Oakley and Daniel Oakley (Buzzy).
He is survived by: his siblings, Elaine Herring, Judy Holloway, Dorothy Ward (C. E.), Donnie Oakley (Debbie) and Russell Oakley (Connie); his daughters, Kathy Wells (Tommy) and Lora Elmore; and his stepdaughter Donna White. He is also survived by several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; many other family members and friends.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be directed to The Wounded Warrior Project.
