He was predeceased by: his wife Gladys F. Dawson; his mother Cora Faye Stell (Dawson); his stepfather Grover Stell; his sister Janice Faye Hudson; his daughter Edith Jones (Dawson); and his stepsons, Harry, John Andrews and David Rathbone.
He is survived by: his children, Joeseph Dawson and Regena Goodman (Dawson). He is also survived by 9 grandchildren, over 20 great grandchildren, and countless nieces and nephews.
Viewing was held on Monday, July 14th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the J. L. Dodson & Sons Funeral Est. (25824 Greensville Ave, Petersburg, VA 23803). Visitation was held on Tuesday, July 15th 2025 at 10:45 AM at the SouthLawn Park (Birdsong Rd, Petersburg, VA 23805). A celebration of life was held on Tuesday, July 15th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
