He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Hager and Wally Hager; and his brother Charles Thomas Hager (Linda Kendall Hager). He is survived by: his wife Carolyn Adams Hager; his children, James Andrew Hager, Thomas William Hager (Kathy) and Karl Jefferson Hager (Terri Nicewander Hager); his grandchildren, Julia Hess (Trevor), Brooke Odum (Jacob), Stefanie Delp (Elliot), Cynthia Hager (Kirkland Vereen), Bailey Hager (Meaghan Gilbert), Mason Hager and Scottlyn Hager; his great grandchild Natalie Odum; his siblings, George William Hager (Anne W. Hager), Marie C. Hager and John B. Hager (Lynda Hager); his nephew John Elliot Hager; his sister-in-law Darlene Harvey; his siblings' children, Charles, Kendall Hager, Katie Hager, James Charles Hager and Jennifer Hager; his close friends, Bob Masse and Tommy Aliff; Debbie Price Hager, Nicole Freeman Hager and Annette McGinnis. He is also survived by many other nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Monday, December 8th 2025 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at the Barnett Funeral Home (325 Church St, Wytheville, VA 24382). A funeral service will be held on Monday, December 8th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the same location. A burial will be held on Monday, December 8th 2025 at the Hager Family Cemetery.
