He was predeceased by: his wife Shirley Joann Gearheart; his son Rex Andrew Gearheart; his parents, Fred Ruthford Gearheart and Faye Viola Counts; his stepfather Cecil Counts; his brothers, Fred R.'Rudy'Jr. and Randolph Allen Gearheart; and his siblings-in-law, Jack (Ilunka Dulaney), Wayne (Judy Dulaney), Glenna Hammond and Carmen Stephenson.
He is survived by: his son Latha Allen; his daughter-in-law Kerri Weddle Gearheart; his grandchildren, Samuel Latha and Gemma Leigh of Clinton, SC; his daughter-in-law Ashley O'Dell; his grandchildren-in-law, Baylee Joann and Daelan Marie Gearheart of Asheville, NC; his siblings, Madeline Gearheart Terry and Charles Edward (Melody Counts); and his brother-in-law Bill Hammond. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
A graveside service was held on Saturday, September 27th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the New Dublin Presbyterian Church Cemetery (5331 New Dublin Church Rd, Dublin, VA 24084).
