He is survived by: his wife Mary Adams Carter; his stepmother Betty Carter; his stepsiblings, Eddie Taylor (Beth) and Lisa Dockery (Dennis); his uncles, Bill Bobrosky (Brenda) and Mack Bobrosky (Cora); his mother-in-law Lois Adams; his sisters-in-law, Freda Robinette (Clarence) and Vada Beverly (Jeff); his niece Crystal Dishner (Ronald); his nephews, Chris Robinette and Ross Beverly; his great-nephew Jacob Dishner (Abby); his great-niece Anna Dishner; his goddaughter Anna Bright; his close friend Taylor Proctor; his friends, John Wade, Russell Proctor, Steve Holmes and Zach Dorton; Leland Dishner. He is also survived by several cousins, and many special friends, including his four legged buddies.

A burial was held on Friday, May 15th 2026 at 12:50 PM. A graveside service was held on Friday, May 15th 2026 at 1:00 PM at the McKinney-Carter Cemetery (1481 Fraleytown Rd, Duffield, VA 24244).

In lieu of flowers, a donation in Michael's memory to either St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or the Humane Society of Scott County may be made.
