She was predeceased by: her mother Lelia Mann; and her husband Myron Darius Hillman. She is survived by: her children, Shelly Hillman and Mike Hillman (Misty); and her grandchildren, Hayden, Alec Hillman, Allison and Parker Garland.
Visitation was held on Saturday, September 12th 2026 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Gate City Funeral Home (136 Beech St, Gate City, VA 24251). A celebration of life was held on Saturday, September 12th 2026 at 7:00 PM at the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel (136 Beech St, Gate City, VA 24251).
In lieu of flowers, the family invites memorial contributions to Cure Alzheimer's Fund, in Barbara's honor and in hope that continued research may bring better answers, treatments, and ultimately a cure for families facing Alzheimer's disease; or to St. Patrick Catholic Church in Dungannon, Virginia the beloved church of her Appalachian home and a place that nurtured the deep faith she carried throughout her life.
