It is with sadness that the passing of Helen Marie (Rhoton) Sweeney of Dungannon, Virginia is shared. Helen passed away on October 11, 2026. Family and friends are welcome to send flowers or leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, George Rhoton and Rebecca Elizabeth Rhoton (Darnell); her husband Terry M. Sweeney; her daughter Patty Hass; her siblings, Maudie Rhoton, Bill Rhoton, Tootie Rhoton, Gene Rhoton, Ernest Rhoton and Roosevelt "Munk" Rhoton; and her sons-in-law, Leon Marshall and Larry Hass.
She is survived by: her daughters, Maggie Collins (Jim) of Gate City, VA and Aggie Marshall (Leon) of Castlewood, VA; her grandchildren, Meghan McConnell, Michael McConnell, Carie Stallard (Michael), Christopher Marshall, Leon (LT), Marshall (Amanda) and Anthony Hass (Julianna); and her great grandchildren, Blake McConnell, Anna McConnell, Haley McConnell, Emma Stallard, Molly Stallard and Blake Marshall. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins, and many dear friends.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 14th 2026 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM and on Thursday, October 15th 2026 at 12:15 PM at the Gate City Funeral Home (136 Beech St, Gate City, VA 24251). A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 14th 2026 at 7:00 PM at the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the Funeral Home (136 Beech St, Gate City, VA 24251). A graveside service will be held on Thursday, October 15th 2026 at 1:00 PM at the Holston View Cemetery (226 Yuma Rd, Weber City, VA 24290).
