He was predeceased by: his parents, Aulton James Birckhead and Margaret Shifflett Birckhead; his wife Frances Lawson Birckhead; and his siblings, Robert Birckhead, Aubrey Birckhead and Thelma Birckhead Thurman.
He is survived by: his children, Teresa Birckhead Bryant (Brett) and Bobby Lee Birckhead Jr. of Earlysville; his granddaughters, Ashley Nicole Grooms and Harlyn Leigh Birckhead; his great grandchild Trevyn Zepher Scruggs; and his pets, Dudley, Titan and Roxie.
A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, October 7th 2026 at 12:00 PM at the Holly Memorial Gardens (3251 Seminole Trail, Charlottesville, VA 22911).
