We announce the death of Mildred Cooley Wakeman of Edinburg, Virginia, who passed away on September 8, 2026, at the age of 89. Mildred will be remembered by family members, friends, and others whose lives were connected in meaningful ways. She was predeceased by: her parents, Elmer Lee and Edna Lee Fogle Cooley; her husband Paul Ralph Wakeman; and her siblings, Jane Sibert, Virginia Shrum and Thomas Cooley.
She is survived by: her sons, Ralph P. Wakeman (LeAnn) of Woodstock and Jeffery A. Wakeman (Becky) of Bogart, GA; her brother Donald Cooley of Burlington, NC; her grandchildren, Joyanna, Carolyn, Miles, Daniel Wakeman and Michaela (Tommy Bolles); and her great grandchildren, Spencer, Silas, Salem and Shepherd Bolles.
A funeral service was held on Sunday, September 13th 2026 at 3:00 PM at the Valley Funeral Service (14116 S Middle Rd, Edinburg, VA 22824).
