He is survived by: his daughters, Cynthia Whitaker and Tamika Harris of Emporia, VA; his grandchildren, LaSara Carter of Raleigh, NC, Ky'Icess Small of Emporia, VA, Ky'Liyah of Emporia, VA, Zi'Yana Harris of Emporia, VA, JaQuan Washington of Emporia, VA, Marquez Harris of Emporia, VA, Akil of Emporia, VA and Amil Small of Emporia, VA; his siblings, Sophia Mabry (Samuel) of Yorktown, VA and David Matthews of Forest Heights, MD; his stepsister Delores Matthews of Forest Heights, MD; his aunts, Marion Barnes of Emporia, VA, Bertha Webb of Emporia, VA, Virgie Lee Williams of Emporia, VA and Queen Williams of Emporia, VA; his nieces and nephews, Alvin "Terry" Spruill (Angie) of Stone Mountain, GA, Samuel Mabry, Jr. (Samantha) of Williamsburg, VA, Stefan Mabry (Ashley), Carl Mabry of Yorktown, VA, David Johnson of Washington, DC, William Johnson of Capitol Heights, MD, Kimberly Johnson of Roanoke Rapids, NC and Charnee Johnson of Alexandria, VA; his great-nieces and great-nephews, Miles, Cole, Kenyari, Noah, Brayden, Kohbi, Kahreim, Desmond, Quinard, Morgan, Willow, Wakelee and Brooke; and his goddaughter Takeda Garrett. He is also survived by cousins he loved dearly and many friends.
Viewing was held on Saturday, May 31st 2025 from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM at the Public Viewing R. E. Pearson & Son Funeral Service, Inc. - Emporia (556 Halifax St, Emporia, VA 23847). A funeral service was held on Sunday, June 1st 2025 at 1:00 PM at the Greensville Elementary School (1101 Sussex Dr, Emporia, VA 23847). A burial was held on Sunday, June 1st 2025 at the Waller Family Cemetery.
