He was predeceased by: his parents, Willie Lee Mabrey Sr. and Helena Moore Powell; his son Frederick Mabrey; his grandson Jasiyah Mabrey; and his siblings, Willie Lee Mabrey, Shirley Hunnicutt, Mattie Hazel, Lewis Mabrey, James Mabrey and Dorothea Pope.

He is survived by: his wife Carolyn Loretta Mabrey; his children, Bishop Dennis L. Dunn, Junius Mabrey Jr., Troy Mabrey (Barbara) of Richmond, Virginia, Aretha Atkins (Lorenzo), Kenyon Mabrey (Valecia) and Protray Temple (Brandon); his adoptive children, Lacey Mabrey and Cederick Mabrey; his granddaughter Zaila Temple; his close friend Deacon Gurnery Ramsey; and his siblings, Ruth Edwards of Emporia, Avelina Mabrey of Ohio and Lloyd Mabrey of Emporia. He is also survived by grandchildren, great-grandchildren; and a great host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, friends.

Viewing was held on Friday, October 9th 2026 from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM and on Saturday, October 10th 2026 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM. A celebration of life was held on Saturday, October 10th 2026 at 2:00 PM at the Greensville County Elementary School (1110 Sussex Dr, Emporia, VA 23847). A burial was held on Saturday, October 10th 2026 at the Zion Community Cemetery (861 James River Jct, Emporia, VA 23847).
