With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Hazel Marie Ashby (Emporia, Virginia), who passed away on July 16, 2025 at the age of 92. Family and friends are welcome to send flowers or leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
Though her name may fade from the lips of time, the imprint Hazel Marie leaves upon the hearts of her loved ones remains eternally vivid — a testament to the depth of her spirit and the richness of her legacy.
She was predeceased by: her parents, William Arrington and Lonnie Lee Freeman; and her sons, Arnold Ashby and William Ashby. She is survived by: her daughter-in-law Deborah Ashby; her grandson Avery Ashby (Alexa Ashby); and her great grandchildren, Adelyn Ashby, Alivia Ashby and Alder Ashby.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 24th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the Echols Funeral Home (806 Brunswick Ave, Emporia, VA 23847).
