With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Sidney Franklin Ricks Jr. of Fairfax Station, Virginia, who passed away on January 20, 2026 at the age of 74. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
As Sidney departs from this earthly realm, his essence lingers — a whisper on the wind, a ripple on the water — a testament to the enduring power of love to transcend the boundaries of life and death. Though Sidney may no longer walk beside us, his spirit lives on in the memories and the legacy Sidney leaves behind.
He is survived by: his wife Deidre McClaron Ricks; his daughter Christina Ricks Canty; his son-in-law Kwame Canty; his granddaughter Parker McClaron Ricks Canty; and his siblings, LaVerne Ricks-Brown and Edward Anthony "Tony" Ricks Sr.. He is also survived by many other relatives and loving friends.
