He was predeceased by: his wife Virginia Taylor Proffitt; and his daughter Kathy Newcomb. He is survived by: his daughter Nancy Killgore; his sons-in-law, Raymond Killgore and Allen Newcomb; and his grandchildren, Paul Newcomb (Samantha), Sarah Bjorn (Brig), Callie Wiborg (Chris) and Emily Bochy (Hoyt). He is also survived by twelve great grandchildren.
