He was predeceased by: his wife Linda Steel Paul; his parents, Dosha Shepherd Paul and Herbert H. Paul; and his siblings, Clifford "Bill" Paul, Ernest "Buzzy" Paul and Elizabeth.
He is survived by: his daughters, Lynn Smith (Tim Roberts) and Retta Hyatt; his grandchildren, Mark "Steven" Smith, Jr., Shannon Dick (Lauren), Stepfanie Hyatt, Victoria "Tori" Riggs (Todd), Jacoby Patterson and Ivan Hyatt; his great grandchild Nora Riggs; and his close friend Michael Workman. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests a memorial donation in Herb's name to the Faith Missionary Baptist Church Youth Group, 701 MacCorkle Avenue, St. Albans, WV, 25177.
