She was predeceased by: her mother Irmgard H. Classen; her stepfather Wilhelm Classen; her father Kuno Brandt; and her sister Monica Yanakakis. She is survived by: her husband Arthur G. Peterson; and her daughter Melissa M. Major (Nicholas A. Peterson) of Severna Park, MD.
