He was loved and cherished by many people including: his wife Shirley; his son Gregg; his daughter-in-law Maria; his daughter Sarah; his grandson Santiago; his aunt Nancy Ratcliffe; his sister Karen Rich Douglas; his sisters-in-law, Barbara O'Hagan and Virginia Gregg; his nieces and nephews, Dr. Susan Douglas Wilson, Amy Fassett, James Douglas, Nathan Cooper, Byron Cooper and William Cooper; and his parents, Jerry Rich and Dorris Tomasek Rich. He was also cherished by his family and friends.

As a longtime season ticket holder, he was thrilled to see the Nationals finally win the World Series, right before the pandemic took away public sports spectatorship.
